What to Wear - Sleeping Guide for Babies

Not sure what to dress your baby in based on the room temperature?

Here is a simple guide to help...

  • Fabrics such as Bamboo or Cotton are breathable, so make sure to check clothing tags before purchasing to ensure you select either one of these. Bamboo fabric is our preference as it is also temperature regulating - helping your baby keep cool in summer, and warm during winter.
  • NEVER place a beanie or any type of headwear on your baby during sleep periods. This could cause them to overheat, and also poses a suffocation risk.
  • If you aren't sure what you should dress your baby in, as a guide, add 1 additional layer to their outfit to what you are wearing.
  • Check the back of their neck or chest to assess how cold/hot they may be. Checking their hands and feet can be inaccurate as these parts of their bodies can naturally be colder in general.
  • If your baby is swaddled, replace the sleeping bag within the picture guide with their swaddle.

Remember - Every baby is different, so we recommend checking your baby regularly and adjust their clothing as needed. This is a GUIDE ONLY. Please consider other factors such as illness, air-conditioning/heating, and whether your baby naturally runs hot or cold.
